We just ordered cheek swabs to screen the whole kennel for DM; a hereditary inflammatory disease of the muscles, skin and blood vessels. Thank you to all those who donate time and money to research to develop the tests for these genetic disorders and a huge thank you to the Collie Health Foundation for providing rebates to help make testing more affordable.

We got a positive ultrasound on Soleil! A smooth sable and tri litter due end of May. Soleil is a Seeker daughter. She is PRA clear, MDR1 N/N and CEA mild.
We were able to confirm pregnancy for our rough blue and tri litter last week. Expecting fuzzy puppies early May!
Charm adjusted well to New Hampshire (she's a Florida girl) and even seems to like the snow! Our smooth and rough sable litter from Jade was a miss. We are very disappointed. Possibly we will try again in the Fall with her depending on how things pan out with the other litters planned this Spring. Winter litters are not my favorite thing to do, but given her age it may be a Winter litter or no litter and I'm not sure I'm ready to give up on a smooth Jade daughter. I'll think on it.
On a brighter note, Charm's smooth sable 1/2 sister, Soleil, (also a Seeker daughter) was bred in light of Jade's miss and came up from Florida to keep Charm company. Next week we will see if we have smooth puppy redemption litter. Soleil has a killer body, nice outline and movement and is tri factored. So if we are fortunate, we should have smooths in tri and sable. |
